Patriots poised to get its 12th win in game vs. Packers

The New England Patriots is favored to win its 12th win in the current National Football League season when they play host to the undermanned Green Bay Packers on Sunday evening.
Sporting an impressive 11-2 record, the Patriots are fully motivated to win their game against the Packers so that they will have the chance to clinch the AFC East title and a first-round bye in the forthcoming NFL playoffs.
Lead by superstar quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots had been a steady force this year in the NFL and a huge force in its home games.
The Patriots had not yet lost a regular-season home game in Foxborough since 2006.
Through the strong efforts of Brady and Patriots coach Bill Belichick the team have won 15 consecutive regular-season home games since losing to Pittsburgh on Nov. 30, 2008.
Aside from its superior record compared to the 8-5 record of the Packers, the Patriots are picked to defeat the Packers since the latter will be playing without its superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is down with an injury.
The remarkable showing of the Patriots this year had been anchored on the magnificent performance shown by Brady who hopes to extend his NFL record of 26 consecutive regular-season home wins by a quarterback, may be playing the best ball of his career.

The odds of winning might not be on their side against the Patriots due to the absence of Rodgers, but the Packers still pack a punch if they just know how to use it effectively.
To defeat the mighty Patriots, Packers back-up quarterback third-year backup Matt Flynn, who went 15 of 26 for 177 yards and an interception in relief last week, need to play superb in his first career start in Rodgers’ place.
If Flynn can produce solid numbers against the Patriots chances of victory against the Patriots is not remote for the Packers.
The Patriots might be playing without its leader in Rodgers, the team still needs to give its 101 efforts since winning against the home-tea, will further boost their quest for the wild-card spot in the playoffs.
Getting the chance to get a wild-card slot will not be easy for the Patriots as the team host the New York Giants and the Chicago Bear in the final two weeks of the current NFL season.
To boost the morale of the team as they fight for a wild-card slot, the Packers needs to play as a team to defeat the heavily favored Patriots.
Getting an upset victory against the Patriots is still very possible if the Packers will just have to focus themselves on winning and play superb come game-time.

Cowboys targets upset win vs. Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys hopes to upset and get their fifth win in the current National Football League season when they host the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
Despite holding an inferior record of 4-8 compared to the lofty 8-4 record of the Eagles, the Cowboys is still slightly favored to win against the visitor in their game.
The Cowboys is picked to win to win over the Eagles since they have beaten the latter three times the past NFL season.
The struggling Cowboys are also on a roll these days winning three of their last four games under new coach Jason Garrett, who is starting to bring back the winning attitude to the team.
The Sunday night meeting between the Cowboys and Eagles is the first of their two meetings this year.
It can be recalled that the Eagles lost by four at home to the Cowboys in 2009, but was blown out in its first two visits to the new Cowboys Stadium.
A 24-0 rout Jan. 3 ensured that Dallas would host the teams’ NFC wild-card meeting the following week, when the Cowboys ended the Eagles’ season with a 34-14 victory.
Although the Cowboys failed to live up to its billing as the favorite to win the Super Bowl crown this year, the team hopes to end their NFL season with a bang by winning their remaining games in the NFL regular season.
To beat the visiting Eagles, the Cowboys need to have a superb offence and capitalized on its revitalized running game.
Cowboys star quarterback Jon Kitna must also play superb and orchestrate right plays for the home-team so that they can beat the tough Eagles.
Kitna must also do his best no to allow Eagles superstar quarterback Michael Vick to dominate him in their game.
If Kitna can play superb against Vick chances of victory is not remote for the Cowboys.
The visiting Eagles on the other hand can avoid an upset if Vick once again will take the lead role in the game against the struggling Cowboys.
Vick had a break-out year this NFL season as he brought the Eagles to a great record and accomplish personal accolades at the same time.
After heading into this season with a career completion percentage of 53.7, Vick has completed 63.8 percent of his passes in 2010.
His NFC-best 105.7 passer rating is exactly 30 points higher than what he put up in his last full season as a starter in 2006.
If Vick and the rest of the Eagles will not be slowed down by defense or misfortune in their game, the visitor is already assured of their ninth win in the current NFL season.
To defeat the home-team, Vick must lead the attack of the Eagles and at the same time the Eagles need to impose stone-wall defense on the Cowboys who are on a roll these days.

Jets, Patriots get going for supremacy in 2010 NFL season

Two of the top teams in the current National Football League season will face each other on Monday night to determine who is really the best NFL team this year.
The New York Jets will visit the red-hot New England Patriots in search of their 10th win of the current NFL season and improve further their quest for an NFL playoff slot.
Holding a similar 9-2 record, the Jets hold a slight advantage against the Patriots in their game after they earlier beat them 28-14 at the Meadowlands.
Jets coach Rex Ryan believe if they can employ the same strategy against the Patriots in their second meeting this season there is no reason they will not win their match-up.
Ryan said he had carefully studied the recent games of the Patriots and thinks the team is a tough team to beat with their superb offence.
However, Ryan said he is confident they can again beat the Patriots since they have the personnel needed to fulfill their aim.
The Jets coach said they will capitalize on defense to slow down the Patriots and eventually defeat them in the end.
Entering into the game, the Jets have won eight in a row on the road, which is why they are confident of winning against the Patriots.
The Patriots for its part although a slight underdog in the game, are still very confident of their chances against the Jets.
The Patriots are coming off a convincing 45-24 victory at Detroit, and have won 25 straight at home with Tom Brady as the starting quarterback.
Many believe if Brady can continue his great performance against the Jets there is no reason his team will lose.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick believes they have the opportunity to take the sole leadership in the NFL and they will do their best to grab it by beating the Jets at home.
Belichick said they have a complete line-up this year lead by Brady to go all the way to the NFL playoffs and take the 2010 NFL championship crown.
With the NFL leadership as prize, the Jets, Patriots game is expected to offer fireworks and ton of excitement to all professional football fans all over the globe on Monday evening.

Steelers, Ravens gets going on Sunday night

TWO of the top teams in the National Football League will clash on Sunday evening in the ongoing NFL season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will visit the Baltimore Ravens in search of their ninth win in the current NFL season.
Holding a similar 8-3 win-loss record, a win in their game will do wonder to any of the two as they hope to land a seat in the forthcoming NFL playoffs.
The game between the two is hard to predict since they always plays hard, in five of the last six meetings between Pittsburgh and Baltimore have been decided by four points or fewer, and the one that wasn’t
the Steelers’ 23-14 win in the supremely hard-hitting AFC championship game Jan. 18, 2009 was a two-point game until Troy Polamalu’s late interception return for a touchdown.
In the recent game between the Steelers and Ravens, the Ravens beat the former 17-14 at Heinz Field on Oct. 3.
Coming into the game, the Steelers is the slight favorite to win their game due to the presence of its superstar quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who was not able to play in the last meeting between his team and the Ravens due to suspension.
Roethlisberger has missed four games against Baltimore due to injury or suspension since entering the league, and the Steelers have lost all four. With him starting, they’re 7-2.
If Roethlisberger can produce great numbers against the Ravens chances of victory of his team is higher.
To win the game for the Steelers, Roethlisberger need to assert himself by scoring and passing for his team.
The Ravens for its part could avoid defeat if they can sustain and limit the performance of Roethlisberger in their game.
Aside from imposing tough defense on the Steelers particularly on Roethlisberger, Ravens reliable quarterback Joe Flacco also needs to play big for his team.
The Ravens third-year quarterback threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-10 win its eighth straight at home.
In six games since Oct. 17, Flacco has 13 TDs, two interceptions and a 111.6 passer rating — the league’s second-best in that stretch.
The key for the Ravens in winning is to make sure Flacco will not be outplayed by Roethlisberger and they can limit their visitor from scoring big in their game.

Texans seeks 6th win vs. dangerous Eagles

Due to his action, Johnson was fined $25,000.
Johnson said the incident is an unfortunate one and he already moved on to it and ready to bring victory to the Texans against the very tough Eagles.
The Eagles for its part is the favorite to win their game after the team won their last two meetings.
The Eagles are also flying high in the 2010 NFL season due to the strong performance of superstar quarterback Michael Vick.
Vick is averaging 308.0 yards through the air over his last three games and could be in line for another big day against a Texans defense which has allowed an NFL-worst 25 touchdown passes and 286.2 passing yards per game – 31st in the league.
The Eagles superstar quarterback said he will do his best to bring his team to victory and avoid a second straight loss after their recent 31-26 defeat to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
The home-team are also on a hot-streak as they won their past three games at their lair and hope to capture another one come Thursday evening.
If Vick can once again produce a great game, there is no reason the Eagles will lose against the visiting Texans.

49ers targets 4th win vs. struggling Cardinals

The San Francisco 49ers hopes to capture its fourth win in the current National Football League season when they face the struggling Arizona Cardinals on Monday evening.
Sporting a similar 3-7, win-loss record, the San Francisco 49ers holds a slight advantage in its game against the home-team Arizona Cardinals.
Troy Smith, the reliable quarterback of the 49ers will lead the assault of the visiting team against the home-team who will once again rely on star quarterback Derek Anderson.
Despite a shaky performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who defeated them recently in a humiliating 21-0 score, Smith will still take the lead quarterback role for the 49ers.
In the game against the Buccaneers, Smith was sacked six times and completed 16 of 31 passes for 148 yards with an interception.
Smith also threw for 552 yards on 29 of 47 passing with two touchdowns in his first two starts.
Despite a less stellar performance, the 49ers believe Smith can still produce a good performance against their less powerhouse opponent.
49ers running back Frank Gore is also expected to play big for his team against the Cardinals.
Gore finished with a season-low 23 yards on 12 attempts after averaging 114.0 yards rushing in his previous four games.
Gore is set to face an Arizona run defense that is 28th in the league at 135.1 yards allowed per game.
The 49ers running back is confident he can lead his team to victory since he had success playing against the Cardinals, averaging 101.6 rushing yards with six total TDs in his last five matchups.
He rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in a 24-9 win over Arizona last Dec. 14.
The 49ers also had reasons to be confident against the Cardinals since they swept their series against them in 2009.
Mike Singletary, the head coach of the 49ers is confident they can beat their opponent if they play their A-game on Monday evening.
The Cardinals on the other hand is themselves dead serious on beating the visiting 49ers.
The odds might not be on their side against the 49ers, Anderson believe they could still pull a surprise and defeat the visitor if they play as a team.
Anderson said although they are on a five-game losing streak, they could still end their losing woes if they gave it they all against the 49ers.
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisehunt for his part is confident of their chances against the 49ers since he believes his team has it take to defeat the visitor.
With so much at stake in their game, the 49ers-Cardinals game promises to be a slam-bang affair to all professional football fans all over the globe.
