One of the top linebacker in the National Football League has expressed hope and determination to have a healthy year as the premier professional football league in the planet ushers in a new season next week.
San Diego Chargers Shawne Merriman who spend majority of the season last year on the sidelines due to injury is now slowly but surely recovering from his Achilles’ tendon
injury.
Merriman said his injury is healing according to their time table that is why he is taking every step not to aggravate it so that he can play for his team in their NFL regular season opener on September 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He as much he wanted to play on every San Diego Chargers exhibition, he could not do it since doing so could put his NFL season in jeopardy with his current injury.
The NFL star linebacker revealed he had been in the same situation in the past that is why he is now taking every step slowly and in the right direction to ensure he can have a production 2010 NFL season.
Chargers coach Norv Turner for his part is giving Merriman his 100 percent support since he do not want Merriman’s ailment to nag during the season, as foot and groin problems did in 2009, when he was limited to four sacks.
Turver said as coach he is making sure all his players will be 100 percent ready and healthy once the new season of the NFL officially starts.
Like the rest of the NFL teams the Chargers are also busy beefing up its line-up in preparation for the great war ahead in the 2010 NFL season.
The Chargers recently signed cornerback Fred Bennett off waivers from the Houston Texans and released defensive lineman Ryon Bingham to make room on the roster.
The Chargers also signed punter Glenn Pakulak, who played in 10 games with the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins during the 2008 and ’09 seasons.
With or without Merriman in its line-up, Turver assured the countless fans of the Chargers all over the globe that the team will play their hearts out in the next NFL season.
To NFL bettors, it’s a toss up between the Chargers and Chiefs on September 13, so just choose the team where your heart belongs so that winning or losing do not matter that much.
