In an effort to revive its struggling National Football League season, the Miami Dolphins has elevated veteran quarterback Chad Pennington to assume the role as the starting quarterback of the team this year.
Pennington who had been playing the back-up role this year will assume the task as the top quarterback of the Dolphins to improve its 4-4 win-loss record and get the chance to play in the NFL playoffs and even play in the Super Bowl this year.
Now that Pennington takes the active role as main quarterback of the Dolphins, former starting quarterback Chad Henne will assume his role as back-up.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said he needs Pennington, an 11-year NFL veteran to carry the team on his back especially now that the team is hoping to advance in the NFL playoffs.
Sparano said Henne is a great quarterback but he just realize that in this time of need where the Dolphins desperately needs a win, Pennington is the right man for the job.
The Dolphins trail New England and the New York Jets by two games in the AFC East and lost to both teams at home, but their schedule eases in the second half of the season.
Pennington takes the initial challenge of his new role when the Dolphins plays host to the tough Tennessee Titans on November 14.
The NFL veteran quarterback will have his hands full against the Titans who like them is also very determined to win to improve their chances of getting a slot in the NFL playoffs this year.
Pennington expressed joy over his new role and hope he can turn the Dolphins into a winning team as the 2010 NFL season becomes more fun and exciting.
Henne for his part expressed sadness over his demotion but still give his full support to Pennington who had serve as his mentor in his three-year career as a member of the Dolphins.
In the game against the Titans, the Dolphins is the underdog due to the superior record of the visiting NFL team.
However, if Pennington can produce a great game, the Dolphins have a huge chance of an upset against the Titans.

Sometimes it pays to have a veteran player in the National Football League.
This was lesson learned by the Tennessee Titans after its 37-year-old back-up quarterback Kerry Collins played superb in the team’s 30-3 victory against the home team Jacksonville Jaguars in the ongoing NFL season.
Playing in place of the injured Titans starting quarterback Vince Young, Collins played a man on mission as he completed 11 of 16 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown, directed five consecutive scoring drives and put the Titans (4-2) atop the AFC South.
Titans coach Jeff Fisher was all praises to his veteran back-up quarterback saying he was clearly the hero in the game against the Titans.
Aside from Collins, Titans running back Chris Johnson was also great in the game getting 111 yards rushing and scoring late in the game to move the Titans into a three-way tie with Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.
Collins was very happy with their win since if further solidify their chances to enter the playoffs and fight for the Super Bowl trophy this year.
In his NFL career, Collins has experience the beauty of being a starter and back-up for the Titans which is why he always prepares hard in every game to ensure he is ready when Fisher wants to use him as starting quarterback.
Playing in-front of its fans, the Jaguars played their best but the injury suffered by its starting quarterback David Garrard was too much to bear in the game.
Without Garrard, Jaguars coach Jack del Rio was force to use recently signed Trent Edwards to play for the injured star quarterback.
Unlike Collins, Edwards was sluggish in the game as he showed that he is not yet familiar with the plays of his teammates.
Luck was clearly not on the side of the Jaguars as the team committed four turnovers and even lose their reliable quarterback.
With their loss, the Jaguars now dropped to 3-3 and finished last in the division the past two seasons and are again in chase mode.
Despite their loss and woeful record, Del Rio is still confident of their chances in the current NFL season saying they just have to limit to their mistakes so that they can have better chances of winning.
He said the Jaguars is matured team that learns to bounce back from its mistake and works hard for the team and its countless fans around the world.
The Titans for its part is still riding high with their victory and hope they can sustain it the rest of the NFL regular season.
Fisher just hope that Young could recover soon from his injury since he is a vital cog of the team’s campaign in the 2010 NFL season.
Based on the recent NFL statistics, among active players, Young has more wins in his first 45 starts than all but a select group of signal callers.

Better chances of entering the National Football League playoffs rewards the winner of the forthcoming match-up between the visiting Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars on October 18.
Fireworks is expected to happen in the game of the two AFC South rivals as they both wish to get the chance to enter the NFL playoffs this year after they missed it in 2009.
Having a similar 3-2 win-loss record, the game between the Titans and Jaguars is even in terms of prediction as any of them could win if luck will be on their side.
While the odds of winning between the two is even, the team who has the best game-plan and has the most desire will most probably win their game.
Playing in-front of their fans, the Jaguars already have a built in advantage against the Titans, who is hoping to upset the home-team.
Based on history, the two are almost even in everything as they split two meetings last season with the Jaguars winning 37-17 at home on Oct. 4, 2009.
The two rivals are enjoying success in the 2010 NFL season since both teams love to score against their opponents.
Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis said they are winning this year due to their passion and desire to be successful for the sake of their franchise and countless fans.
Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio expressed confidence they could win the game if running back Maurice Jones-Drew will have an A-game against the Titans.
Jones-Drew, tied for eighth in the league with 406 rushing yards, had 84 on 19 carries against Buffalo Bills.
He ran the ball eight times for 177 yards and two touchdowns at Tennessee in November.
Titans quarterback Vince Young for his part needs to assert himself and carry his team in offence to beat the Jaguars.
Ranked fourth in the NFL in terms of scoring at 26.4 points per game, the Titans could tame the Jaguars if they play as a team and prevent the home-team from scoring big.
The team that will show more desire and passion is expected to emerge victorious in the end come October 18.

After being on the list of the unable-to-perform-list (PUP), the management of the Tennessee Titans removed the defensive tackle Tony Brown leaving only David Thornton (still recovering from shoulder surgery) on the list. Tony Brown will now return to play on their preseason finale with the New Orleans Saints and be able to outdo his past performances as the Titans are set to have their first regular season game against the Oakland Raiders who’ll be visiting their home field, LP Field, on September 12, 2010 at 1:00PM.

Brown was put into the PUP after undergoing surgery on his right knee which led him to missing the last season’s finale. Brown told the reporters that it really feels good to be out of the PUP list and that he is so excited to be back on the game running around pain- and stress-free. He just can’t wait for their preseason finale game between the Saints. Meanwhile, having Tony Brown back just in time to face the Raiders will mean a lot to the Tennessee Titans. Veteran Cornerback Cortland Finnegan will also join the team in facing the Raiders, which will make the team a powerful cast.

Sportsbook and handicappers had set the Titans as the favorite, leaving the Oakland Raiders the underdog. Can this condition boosts their confidence and could hail them victorious against the Raiders? Bettors and fans, watch out!
